My 1930's Diva Dresser Makeover, or, How I Love My Drawers.

I know I have rattled on about my vintage dressing table but the truth is having a place for knickers, socks, bra's and tights is a god given right. It's not until you are without a set of drawers that you realise that life cannot go on indefinitely with two plastic bags stuffed full with the best that Marks and Spencers have to offer. (I'm saying M&S but that's being kind and  more than a little untrue as quite a lot of my undies are purchased from Tesco on my stumbling route through the local superstore to the ready meals (lie) and the cat food aisle (true) via the wine shop (true again). Long gone are the days when I popped into Agent Provocateur and purchased a delightful set of silky soft turquoise undergarments, decorated with perky red cherries in the most prominent position......hang on, I've still got 'em! In their pale pink and black store bag. Ohhhh Knicker Love heart heart heart! Ah well they can go into the new dresser drawers too! LOL :)
So off the point a little but really it's THAT big of a pain in the very parts that need covered by the items stored safely and conveniently within. Not only the storage but really the longing to have that feminine piece of furniture. I can't think of a man who would be as interested in this particular piece of bedroom furniture, nor one who would actually make use of it!
No more waffle here it is at long long last and I love it, practically and prettily perfect for me.

Mex/Aztec Drawer Set -in situ.

For the bathroom.....more of which later. It ties in nicely with my multi-print shower curtain and black subway tiles......and it's already stuffed with bathroom junk! You can see where the influences for the colour and style came from can't you!

A Little Re-Purposed Vintage Glamour

So we all know I am currently awaiting supplies to finish my Deco Dresser but I squeezed in another little up-style in the meantime.

Its an Art Nouveau style frame that was stuffed in a drawer at my Mums' house for around a decade which she then passed to me but for some reason neither she nor myself had the heart to bin it, although the odd shaped spaces for the photo's to be displayed made it virtually impossible to find pictures to fit!
Then suddenly I had the urge to drag it out of the drawer and do SOMETHING with it! Even if it were just to donate it forward to a charity shop.

Then it clicked! So I removed the glass and glued some wadding onto the back, then I covered the insert with black silk fabric using my staple gun and popped it back into the frame and there you have it! A vintage style display for my collection of brooches.
The odd little shaped apertures for photos are now something that give the whole a little more interest instead of being an awkward frame to fill. Very happy with this little re-purpose and it only took about 20 minutes. I think you could probably use any variety of frame for the very same purpose, it's up to you!

Mini Mexican-Style Makeover

Hi guys! I managed to complete a mini project that I've had hanging around forever! I'm still waiting for supplies to arrive so that I can complete my vintage dressing table but I spent a couple of hours turning this unloved set of drawers that the neighbours were chucking out about six months ago, into a gorgeous wee set with Mexican/Aztec influences that anyone could make use of!

Not terribly inspiring got to admit :(

AFTER!!! :D
A success I think, all it took was some tester pots of paint (x2), nail polish, a black Sharpie and some leftover mosaic tiles from a job years ago!

Oopps, spot the drip! All the knobs were decorated with
a black Sharpie marker pen and leftover nail polish from my stash! :)

x2 in 'Malibu'
Oh yeah the knobs were as much fun to do as they look :) LOL Fun!
See you all soon with more goodies!
Love
Sam
